Default parts for personal stock

Hey guys, I live here in the philippines. Here there are not many audis, very few in fact. Last March I bought a low milage(28,000 km) a4 2000 1.8t and I really enjoy the car! However, over the past several months, I have had a few problems i.e. steering rack, steering hose, control arms etcs. I have also realized that here there are not many place to buy parts. The dealer only sells oem parts which not only cost an arm and a leg but it also takes a 3WEEKS to get here.

My friend in the US can buy parts for me and ship it to me so I can get it much cheaper. My first order would be a complete suspension kit from ecs, 5 pack oil filter and maybe a timing belt kit in the near future. Do you guys have any suggestions on what parts to order ahead and keep in stock.

thanks

First, why are you haveing problems with a steering rack and control arms on a car that only has 28k km on it?

I have never stocked any parts for my car other than oil and oil filters. Replacing control arms or the timing belt are things that you should be able to plan ahead for and buy in advance.

When it comes down to it, any parts that you would need quickly are too expensive (and stupid) to stock and all other parts that are cheap enough to stock, you shouldn't need immediately and should be able to wait for them to be shipped.

28km/17k and you need control arms? Unless you need a part I wouldn't suggest just stocking up with them. Then again I'm not in your situation.

Why the control arms and steering rack gave way is kinda a shock to me too. Dunno how the previous owner took care of it.(myt have hit alot of potholes and put ordinary PS fluid) The main reason I bought it was because of the very low milage. I first time I took it for a test drive, I know I just had to have it. Right now its in the dealer now again with abs and brake warning lights flashing. Im really hopping its not the abs module....

it's realy a wierd situation here for audi owners who don't have the big bucks to take care of their rides.... bimmers and benzes have it alot easier cause there are many around parts and service are easy to come by..

yup, i use pentosin 11s. I'm guessing the previous owner of the car used something like that so thats how the rack and pinion needed replacement even after only 32KM milage...
