yes you need to spend money on these cars to keep them happy, and if you get problems before they get worse or cause bigger ones it not that bad, if you want reliable but not very modable, get a 12v, they can outrun the civic easy but can't be modded easily so will get smoked by a modded 1.8, you usualy can find 1.8's for cheaper too.
