I heard that lightened flywheel is not really confortable for daily / traffic driving... because rev goes up/down faster.

that IS hte point of the flywheel... yes...

it's not so bad that it sucks as a DD... but a bigger turbo and tune isn't exactly the best DD conditions either

As far as the flywheel goes, many people hate them because they will chatter at low rpms that is very anoying, it will chatter while idleing if the AC is on and many other times mainly in a low rpm anywhere from 2-3k rpms. If the lwfw didn't chatter everybody that hates them would probablly like them. Also it revs up alot quicker yes thats good but your revs drop twice as fast, making it hard to keep the rpms up in between shifts, since your reducing the rotation weight about 50%.

The k04 you can part together a kit for cheap. The k04 that i got and sold a few weeks later i got for $730 with the install kit from eurocode. As far as tuning goes you can get a k04 chip and some companies like evoMS for regular chip price. If you are going to run bigger injectors you would need software that will support it, n-dbw you can run the pc-16 file through GIAC. The PC-16 giac file i know runs the bosch 310cc redtop injectors, with an adj. FPR set at around 2.6-2.8bar. If you do run that file a FMIC is reccomended but that would put you around 260-275 CHP. So if your not looking to go that route you can get around 240-250 with the basic k04 software and stock injectors.

Thanks for your input everyone!

Trailboss - I do want to make the install as simple as possible, so as for bigger injectors, if I can get 240-250 CHP with stock units, that is all I really want. I think I'm good, time to start pricig components and making a list

As for the flywheel - I think I'll pass, B5 revs up much faster than my prior b3 cars, so i think in terms of comfort for everyday driving - just getting upgraded clutch and put that extra $500 to some other good use

Thanks again for your input!

K04
Program for ECU
fpr
clutch
....but If we want little extreme we need to add
fmic
310cc enjectors

Is it right ?

Another question, I have B5 98 1.8TQ M is it n-dbw or not ?

if you are going to add the FMIC and injectors you will be upgrading from the regular software also in your case for the 98.5 it would be the PC-16 file that runs more boost also your 98.5 is NDBW the DBW cars started in 2000

the difference between 98 and 98.5 is the 98's are rare as anything they have the taillights like the 96-97 A4's and the same euro trunk also the PC-16 file runs around 23-24psi I think not 100% positive on this though

Alright, didnt read all the post, so if it was already said, deal with it.

Heres the best way to get a powerful ko4 setep. You are going to need to buy the awe kit, then ask for the pc-16/j31 software. Then pick up a fmic intercooler so you dont fry anything. Then, u dont want 315cc injects, u need 310s for pc-16. Your going to need a full exhaust with a highflow cat. Your cltuch will be useless by now, so your going to need one, forget about spec, deal with southbend, much better company. Oh yeah, and if u want to be dif, get a 2.8s tran, puts the 0 to 60s way down in the 5s and top speed over 170mph.

I remember hearing something about having a discount if you are already a GIAC chip owner but I didn't realize it was a $200 trade in!

http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...rain&IL=AWEK04 <<-- That is the link to the AWE setup audiboy is referring to. I'm thinking about going this or the GT28RS, so this thread was very useful to me as well.

Is the Trade in discount applicable throuhg AWE if you didn't originally purchase your chip through them?

Now for the hard part, a K04 or GT28RS?

Audiboy - I'm assuming you've had both, could you provide some side-by-side comparisons? And where did you get a 2.8 tranny? Just find a wrecked one and have it rebuilt?
