Default Please Help

I have had my 2001 A4 1.8T for four months. A couple of weeks ago, my motor went kaputs because I had no oil pressure. At least thats what my shop tells me. Now I need to get a new motor but I don't want to get ripped off. Where can I get a new motor and can my honda buddies replace it. My shop wants to charge me 4600 for the motor and installation. Please help me.

I took it to a shop and they told me that there was no oil pressure and that my motor needed to be replaced. That is about all I can tell you. I also just read about a recall they did for the engine in my car. Can I be covered under that. http://audi.tribe.net/thread/628613c...7-509bcbceaa5b

Well who did you take the car to? What service history does it have? Do you have documented oil changes? If you don't have oil change documentation you're pretty much SOL for the recall... maybe take it to a dealer and see.

And I wouldn't trust "honda guys" to install anything on a german car. This isn't those little pokey 1.6L engines... your 1.8t is very complex, but as long as they're competent enough to pull and engine, and you get another complete engine it should be OK.

While you're in there you might as well change the timing belt on the new engine and the clutch

I took it to my local shop called helmuts. They were pretty good and reasonable with my old bmw. The audi I have now is only four months old to me. I bought it used from a ford dealership where I traded in my mustang. So I don't really don't have any of that information. What else can I do?
