Default Please Help!, Possible turbo problem?

I bought a 98.5 A4 1.8T quattro about a month ago, and since I bought it, when I have the gas pedal to the floor and a little bit before, the car starts bucking until I let off the gas. I had the timing belt done as it was toast upon inspection, which seemed to make it a little bit better, but the problem is still there. The guy I bought it off of had put a boost controller and blow-off valve on the car, which my mechanic thinks is part of the problem. He told me it was either something with the fuel injectors or the turbo. As far as i know there are no other mods done to the car (yet), but I would imagine that it is something with the turbo, the RPM's don't come down too quickly when I let off the gas. I'm new to the 1.8T engine so I am at wits end, but if anybody has any ideas about this, I'm all ears.

OK so i did some searching and the car must be running really rich and the o2 sensor must be cutting the motor off temporarily...now if I switch back to the stock diverter valve, would I still be able to have the boost controller in place, or would i have to remove that as well?

I don't believe I have a chip, I haven't had this car that long. Is there an easy way to tell if it's chipped without ripping the car apart? As for as the boost goes I don't know how much I am running, even when the controller is turned all the way down, it still has the same problem, although not as bad. If it helps it is a turboxs controller and valve. The guy I bought the car from had already put the parts on, but didn't install a boost gauge. Thanks for the help, I figured for sure I'd be lynched for asking questions about the BOV, even though I had nothing to do with it's installation.

ya take off the bov and see if that fixes the problem. then get a boost gauge. take off the mbc and hook up the n75 valve the right way. or just look at teh ecu and see if you can find the name of the chip or if its stock

OK, stupid question, are you recommending that I do all of the things you said, or can i just start with removing the BOV? Is there a tutorial out there on putting the diverter in? Any idea on cost of the N75? If the car is chipped, would I be able to have it tuned easily or do i have to remove the ecu and send it off? Thanks again for your help![sm=thanx.gif]

If i just chip the car, can't I increase the boost without the mechanical bulls*** that's on my car right now?

My advice, lost BOV, get a Forge or whomever after market DV (they will all work really)

lost the boost controller, they are next to useless with these cars

Get it chipped and get a Boost Guage. much help there

and have fun with it

also, to tune the car, they generally put it on a dyno, hook it up to a bunch of sensors, and go to town on it
