Default please help...pretty please.

Im apologize in advance for another damn timing question. Just finished installing my ECS Ultimate timing belt kit with lightweight crank pulley on my 1998 A4 1.8TQ. Now here's my issue. I figured before I threw my rad back on and filled her up with coolant i would check to see if she even starts. Well she does...and purrs like a kitten for about 15-20 seconds and then dies. Do these cars have a safety feature for running without coolant? Please help if you have anything at all that may be helpfull. Thanks in advance!

so if it runs good with no lifter noise or anything(yet dies) and starts fine then my timing should "in theory" be ok?

Sounds like its gonna be alright. It would run rough if the timing was off.

Not sure why it would cutout though.

Mine had the same problem, but I was low on coolant because it sucked a bunch up after it started. More coolant and I was good to go.
