Please help with wheels
Hi Audi Fans,
I have a problem with my wheel fitting for my Passat. I need some help. I also have a thread at the VW forum. Here is the link: http://www.vwforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=152892#152892 In short: I wanted to put on the widest possible tires on my ride without any mods/rubbing. Most people agreed that 225 would do fine, whereas with 235 I can run into some problem. Now, I managed to pick out a set of wheels, but I'm worried that they won't fit. Here is what I mean: I just found out today that stock VW wheels have 37 mm (on 17x7") and 45 mm (on 17x7.5") offsets. The OZ Superleggeras are 17x8" with offset of 35 (p/n SL780M35L-RS). These are the only ones that come with 5x112 bolt pattern. That makes it deviate almost 1" from stock. Am I in trouble? Thanks for the help and input. |
RE: Please help with wheels
you are fine unless your car is slammed.

RE: Please help with wheels
I have an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro and I have 18x8 OZ Superleggeras with 225/40ZR18 Toyos. I don't know about 235s though.

RE: Please help with wheels
Sorry, what do you mean by slammed?
What wheels/tires do you run? They look awesome... |
RE: Please help with wheels
slammed = lowered suspension

RE: Please help with wheels
Thanks Aliel. That's very reassuring. I see that the 18" ones also have 35 mm offset. So you have no rubbing at all, right? Not even when the wheels are fully turned? I have to turn my wheels out all the way several times, for the stupid parking at work...
I am thinking of putting 225/45/17 Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's on. |
RE: Please help with wheels
I run 235's on 18x8.5 (et35) wheels. Lowered suspension (sport). I have no rubbing issues. On my sedan I had the same setup but with race suspension and I rubbed.

RE: Please help with wheels
Thanks Jestnomen. I guess there is a good reason why it says "Newbie" under name login name:)

RE: Please help with wheels
