Default PO171...

Autozone told me that this means I need a new O2 sensor. Is this always the case with this code? Or is there anything else it might be? I just dont wanna go buy a 150 dollar part and find out it wasnt the problem. PS, I did search.

Clear the code and see if it comes back. This could be avacuum leak or an O2 or MAF sensor.

It surprisingly went off, randomly, today. Ill see if it comes back. You may be right about the Vac leak, because I can hear what sounds like a leaky hose when the engine is running. I only know this because it happened before.

I got the same code a bit ago.

Be sure and check your vacuum hoses. The sound started low and with time grew so that I could easily hear it with my windows down while driving.

Ok, its back on again, and from searching the forums and personal experience, the on and off problem generally tends to be a vac leak. Anybody know where the best place to look for leaks is? or how to find them? Is it ok to just look around with the engine running and listen for it? It makes kindof a whistling noise. That is a vac leak right?

Took it in to the dealer today, the vac leak prediction was dead on. Its all fixed and good to go. Another 225 dollars at good old Laurel Audi. I love them, they are always nice, know what there doing, and most importantly get things done quickly, but so theyre expensive.
