possible subwoofer/amp install..
I know it has been discussed before. I searched, and I found a few things...but I guess i just need a bit more clarification. If I wanted to install subs/amp with my b5 Bose system...
Right now im thinking:
Run the amp to the battery, run the subs to the amp (obviously)...but how do i get the subs actually connected with the rest of my system without going aftermarket headunit.
I have a powered sub right now, bazooka tube style, and i just tapped into my rear deck speakers...but with 2 12" subs lets say in my trunk, im not going to tap into any speakers...I need some clarification on how to get them connected to the system.
I read in another thread about tapping into the bose amp...but what would that do for me?

easiest and only way i know is hooking up the amp to the back of the headunit, does it have a connection for auxillary or whatever? if not, then i'd get the aftermarket stereo to install it. that way you can also control the volume of the sub itself from the front.
The stock head unit doesnt have pre amp out puts so you have to use a line level converter which does tap in to the speakers and then run the rcas from the converter to the amp
I just recently did this and it wasn't too bad. I did use the line level converter and ran all my cables under the center consol under the carpet and then under the back seat. Ran the power wire along the side of the door panels. I did add my own switch to right beside the emergency blinks button. Just drilled out a little hoel and shoved in a switch from wall mart. Got constand power by slicing into the cigerate outlet and ran the remot to it. Grounded it to some random screw. everything works great.
If you are going to get behind the HU then you should do it right - choose a line level output and splice in an RCA jack. The sub will be controllable by the HU - I use the BASS control to dial the sub up or down depending on what music I am playing. People have also picked up a line level signal from an input into the stock BOSE amp with success.

if i get my subs/amp, and i get this wiring kit...

it will give me everything that I need, but I have a question about one of the wires. The thin, light blue wire...where would I put that in my set up? On a normal system..it would go to the aftermarket headunit. Where would I put it in mine? It is the remote power wire I believe.
