Default Power bug is niping at my heels.

Currently I have a 2000 1.8TQ with the APR 93 chip and a 710N. The problem for major power upgrades is the tiptronic transmission.

I would like some more highway power as I commute 150 miles a day, but I need to keep the car reliable because....I commute 150 miles a day.

Anyone able to tell me their long-term experience of a K04 with the tiptronic?

thanks

Can't help, since I have a 2.8. Bumping it for you.

Doesn't the commute suck. Mine's nearly 80 miles.

20k a year just to work. Then I go to PA like 3 times a week 200 miles roundtrip. My driving habits killed the value of the car, almost rounding 170k now. I've put 20k miles on it in the past 2.5 months.

I go from south NJ, Philly area to just outside Newark 5 days a week. Once a week I drive to Delaware to have dinner with my kids.

I bought the car used and have put 40K on it in one year.

K04 would sure be nice on the NJ turnpike.

I've always read that the k04 may be too much power for the triptronic tranny.

I've heard that too, but AWE sells a K04 program for the tiptronic, for which they say you need the GIAC tip chip.

I think you would be fine, more power is always nice. Ive only heard of a ko4 killed tranys, they were running setups that could prolly run high13s with a pro driver, insane timing and boost.

I was also thinkin about it for a while, but I think I'll just wait till I get a manual and go bigger than a k04.

The mod bug skipped my heels and took out my kneecaps.

I was at a show in seattle called waterwagons last weekend. if you wanted you could drag your car. i saw a b5 a4 run a 13.28 ******* sick!
i also saw an audi tt run a 11.78. that is one of the best audi/vw shows by far! I would recommend coming to the show next year!
