Default power steering

when i steer my car it makes loud noises and i found out i only had a couple drips of power steering fluid left. Is there a specific brand of fluid i need for my A4 becuase i never bought power sterring fluid before?

yes. Pentosin hydraulic fluid is what is used in most of the audis i have seen. go either to the dealer or to a vw/audi import car shop that sells the correct fluid.your owners manual and/or the label on your reservoir should specify the type of pentosin fluid.

is that the only brand becuase im going to go to kragen my local auto parts store and i doubt they would have oem brands. can i just use any brand that has the specific chemical listed in the car manual.

the better question you need to be asking is; why is my power steering fluid gone?

lookfor a leak at the pump, steering rack, or somewhere in between. and cross your fingers the whole time that the fluid just evaportated somehow

The Audi approvedstuff is mineral oil-based, the other stuff is petroleum-based or synthetic. If you used the other stuff it will swell the seals in the system and leak to even worse leaks than you have now. What color is the fluid you have in it now? It should have a green tint to it if is the right stuff.

Buy the fluid from a VW or Audi dealer.
