Default Price for wheel bearing/cv joint?

Just got off the dog and bone with Burdick Audi, in Syracuse, and they quoted a price of 285 for bearing, (fitted, and 485 for CV joint, (fitted). Is this a fair price for a main dealer, or am I being bent over, and royaly shafted?
Seems like an OK price for the bearing, but CV joints were never that much in the UK...
Cheers
Andy

that is way too much for the cv joint...my mechanic (not a dealership) quoted me 185 each for the inner joints, and 150 each for the outers.... www.raxles.com sells rebuilt axles with new inner and outer cv joints for less than 200 per side...install would probably be 100 bucks per side at a mechanic, maybe 200 at the most at a dealership

Maybe the cv joint price was including bearing too?? Would work out about right?

I got quoted 2 hours of labour for a rear wheel bearing -- from my mechanic. Bearing itself is 75CDN dollars.

that would make a little more sense, but it's still pretty high. i'm in cali, where everything's more expensive, and i wouldn't pay that much...there's a DIY for the rear wheel bearing on aw if you want to try to tackle it yourself, it doesn't look terribly difficult...again, you can get new AXLES, including new inner and outer cv joints, for 180 bucks from www.raxles.com (plus install)
