Exclamation How much does it cost to replace cv joint and wheel bearing...

Here's my dilemna, last week after a storm, i got on the freeway and the steering column started to shake when i was accelerating. I thought it might be the balancing, but car doesn't seem to favour either side when i let it go free. Then I thought it might be the wheel bearing. That issue simply disappeared after a day, so I'm clueless as to what it could be.

Tonight, as I was headed home from work, i noticed my left front was clicking when I turn the wheel all the way to one side and backed out of my parking spot. I googled the issue right away and it told me it may be the cv joint or axle assembly.

Can anyone tell me the average labor cost to replace either the cv joint, axle, and wheel bearing. Or even all of them?

Should I replace both sides as well? Regardless if my issue is currently on one side and not both?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I really need to resolve this issue before the holidays begin!!

To the OP, this is definitely a DIY job. Do a search and you should find a walkthrough. You may have to go to a shop to have the new bearings pressed but everything else is doable with no special tools.

Got it done for $300, took 3 hours, and she runs smooth again!
