Default Problem with new intake setup

First off, i want to indroduce myself, im new to audis, ive built Mazda Rx-7s for over 3 years. I wanted to switch over to something more reliable. I now currently own an Audi A4 2.8L v12..

Now the problem... I removed the stock airbox and replaced it with a short ram setup with a K&N filter. I noticed that after the installation the dash reads a check engine sign, but thats not all, when im driving, the car falls flat at 6k, the power just quits, i was wondering if it is something i did wrong on the setup? everything is connected??
Will post pics later

thanks,
alex

its the lack of information that gets me ( short ram ) this sounds like the MAF has been taken out like the cone filter cold air system

First of all, clean your MAF sensor with electronics cleaner. K&N filters from the factory are WAYYY over oiled. Secondly, the 12v doesn't make power past 5500 RPM and the fuel cutoff is around 6000 so don't bother going that high.

Well when i installed it i connected everything according to the directions ect, and my car wouldnt turn over.. then i relised that i need the two brown connecters off the top of the air box and connected them together, and i believe this is wrong because it is dangling there...?

That brown thing is the ignition control module. I have mine just hanging near my intake. I haven't had any problems.
