Default problems with manual boost controller

so i put a manual boost controller in a couple of days ago and ever since they i havent been boosting right. with just a chip and new n75 i was boosting 15 psi. i was hoping to get it to 17 or 18 with the mbc, but nothing has been going right. when i installed it the first time i was only boosting up to 12 psi. i got it up to 15 psi now, but its all the way screwed off and the caps almost falling off. i installed it like the picture below and did these things listed in the instructions.

1. turned the mbc all the way clockwise.
2. put it in and adjusted 3 turns counter-clockwise
3. adjusted it
4. tested it while driving car
5. went back to 3

heres a pic of how i hooked it up

should i have unhooked the battery between steps 2 and 3? or is it a bad hook up?

i dont know why you would unhook the batery, im asuming you have it looped in with your N75, or if you dont did you atleast keep it pluged in? if your running a ko3 your not going to be able to hold 17 or 18 psi, you probibly have a leak somwhere is my guess. check all your lines for leaks that you installed.. I have to do the same thing, im going to eliminate my n75 this weekend.. to may hoses i think i have a leak as well..

Well I rarely go to redline, but yes. I can hold 20 up to redline in 1st and 2nd and then in 3rd-5th its more like 18ish. All I have is N75 J, GIAC and Forge dv. It holds a lot longer since i got the forge and replaced my dv vac line.

maybe i have a shitty DV.. i went with the Evo DV. I dont know I have a ko4 and i only hold 13 in first 15 in second and 16 in 3rth 4th and 5th but when I put my n75 h valve in i would peek to 25 thought that was high so i got the MBC and just let it go to 20-21

Dont you have the non pc-16 file for your k04? Isnt that less aggressive? I always thought that the k04 programing boosts lower than the k03 programing, not that that makes the k03 any better. So you spike at 20-21 and hold 13-16?? I forget, is your n75 still plugged in? I might try the stock n75 (which i know you broke when taking it out) but I still have my stock one for sale if you want to try it. Im not sure it would help, but it might. I didnt think you were supposed to use anything but the stock n75 with a k04??

thats what i was told but i had some bost surging so i tried the h vave and it got worse, Yea i have the less agressive file, but i would still think i should get more boost, but maybe im wrong.. How much for the n75, and yea its still pluged in, I might just try eliminating it as well just to see if there is any diference.

I dont know man... I would try contacting the manufacturer of the chip you have and ask what the boost should be. And you can log with vag com what your requested boost is versus what actual boost is. I forget which blocks/groups to log to do that though. I would try those 2 things before i sell you something that may or may not fix a problem that you may or may not have.
