pruchsding an A4 1.8t good idea?
Ive been looking at audi A4's in general but i have been offered a audi A4 1.8t for a decent price its affordable for me just. but i ask is this a good idea for me to buy this mainly becuase im only 18 and just outta skool and will be at tafe next year therefore not having a big income per week(part time wage). im asking wether or not the costs of running this audi such as services and just general things that go wrong with the turbo would be to great for a 18 year old with fairly low income in ur opinions
If you dont have a seady income to do repairs I dont suggest getting it. Im not saying that Audi's a problematic or there will be problems. But if you have something like your Turbo go, thats over $1000 from the dealer. Lets say you just decided to get a K04 becuase its cheaper from a store than the k03 from the dealer. But then you need to chip your car to support it and it ends up being more. Lets say you do a k03 used from somewhere. still $300 and if you cant install it, you will need to take on 3 hours or so of labor charges from a shop.
When some things go it can be expensive and you need to have that cash flow just incase they do. That turbo situation happend to me, I had the cash and did the k04.

Its tempting to get the Audi. You say you can JUST afford it, which means you can't afford it. You are going to probably do something to it after you buy it even if its just tires or brakes or something. It is going to be more expensive to own than a cheapy Honda.
Get yourself an Accord or Civic around 96-97. You can pick it up for a decent price, just pay liability insurance instead of the collision insurance you would put on the Audi. Repairs are cheap, everyone will work on them (not all garages can work on Audis), runs on 87 octane (not 91-93 octane), and if you work on cars yourself a little bit, Honda's are a simpler car and easy to work on.
My last car was a Honda Accord and it was the best, cheapest, lowest maintenance car I have ever owned.
Delayed satisfaction. Get a Honda now, buy the Audi when you KNOW you can afford it and you have more expendable income.

Buy the car you want. you will never be happy dealing with a car thats just okay to you. if you cant afford even a cheap 96 A4 than dont buy an Audi. if you have your eye on multiple cars, figure it out. theres always a car for you that you will be happy with and still cheap reliable and affordable. not just "go get a honda" thats my opinion.
