Default Puttin on a manual boost controller..smart?

I got the Bov installed on the intercooler piping looks nice CRD did a good job .....but its not making tha ricey blow off sound.and that is wierd because i got a really loud turbo xs type h...but the mechanic sound there was not enough boost being made..so maybe its tha 160k mile turbo not making any boost...u can still hear spoil thou..anyways i'm putting on a used turbo wit 40k on it and i dont want to spend the 400 + on a chip.. So my mechanic said he can install a manual boost controller for 10 bucks extra on my turbo install..beats 400+

Wat i want to know is it safe.
and i no it wontwork like a chip because the timing and wat not...but will my engine blow if i boost 10 or 12 daily on a 40K turbo.

BTW i;m getting a boost gauge days after i get my turbo installed with manual boost controller.

cutting corners is bad... save up your money, get a chip. Tune is everything... and a tuned car with 12 psi is a hell of a lot smarter than just cranking it to 12 and driving it.

Manual boostgauges aren't that great from what I've heard. Also is your BOV a hybrid (just curious)? I tend to agree with Headshok. . . . . . Cutting corners is not real bright. (no offence)

It all depends what file ur running to see if there bad or not, some turbos and file u really need a mbc, not for stock car tho, ur looking to have some problems, more boost without fuel can be a bad thing.

A manual boost controller on an A4? Ha good luck, you'll be hitting fuel cut and throwing overboost codes left and right. Doesn't work on this car at all. Audi has serval inputs to the ecu regarding boost. Without changing the input signals or changing the ecu it's not going to happen. If you looking for something cheaper then a chip, Check out the 1.8T BCS (boost controller system) it's an electronic boost controller made for the 1.8T engine. The controller will actually modify the values coming to the ecu allowing the car to produce more boost. You can find them on ebay for about 100$

And your idea is any better?

Manual boost controlers do work, if used correctly. I run an electronic greddy profec type-s myself.

Yea it will work, but I wouldnt do it, take your time and save for a chip. Oh and the 99.5 and earlier do not have any ecu inputs for boost

"Electronic turbo boost regulation"...your telling me that the car has an electronic regulation system but no imputs for the ecu to control it by?? And no...i'm not saying the 1.8T bcs anywhere near a substitue for a chip, but i'm sure it would do better for him then a home depot made 8$ special.

I dont think gettin into an argument with Tom about Audi's & engines & spec's is necessarily a great move. You may just end up thinking "I am I really that dumb". LOL :-)
