Default quattro question...

hey doods,

quick question for ya, on sh*tty roads, say when starting off at a stoplight, is it normal for 1 wheel to spin like a fwd? This is the first awd I have ever driven so I just want to make sure its doing what it supposed to. I have studded winter tires and unless i take it REAL easy off the line I still break loose, feels like 1 wheel anyhow, definitely not all 4. Like when I pulled out from work today my driver side tires were on pavement and the pass. side was on hardpack snow, I noticed extreme traction loss on the pass. side, like both wheels spinning. Appologies if this doesn't make much sense...its late. Thanks for any help in advance.

well it makes sense that you wouldnt have much traction on the snow. snow=slippary road=grip. the point of awd is that if one wheel is spinning the car sends power to the others so that you dontlose control.

Is your ABS light flashing and your brake light solid?

It really doesn't sound right... Especially with studded tires. I have Dunlop M3's (not studded) and going up to snowboard I have to try to break traction.

yeah it didn't seem right to me either. and it doesn't transfer power to the wheels that aren't slipping. they just spin until i let off the gas

and no, not abs light or anything out of the ordinary

Your traction control is not working. It should apply the brakes
to thespinning wheels.

i'll replace the fuse seeing how its a quick fix, but with no warning lights I can't see the fuse being blown. What else could cause loss of traction control? ABS sensor???
