Default Quattro vs. Rwd

i never thought i would see the day when my audi quattro '96 would beat my moms 540i sport in the corners...i took a turn at 80km/h with the bimmer and the rear end let out...obviously traction control was on..then i took the same turn in my a4 and my car was just sticking i bet i couldve took the turn at 100km/h in stead of 80km/h....WOW!!!...was going to get a bimmer this summer but now im sticking to 2001 sport 1.8t quattro..quattro is a must!!

There are a TON of things that go into vehicle dynamics so that is far from being the only difference between the cars, but yea, quattro is pretty sweet.

Me too! The 540i in an old issue of car & driver (I think!) is the car that made me fall in love with cars!

thats just it you want grip or slip, quattro is made to make the most of traction , rear wheel is meant to slid the back allowing the driver to correct without understeering and going straight, this backend slidding is in americna terms fishtailing or everywhere else drifting.

I think being lighter played a major there. Yea the quattro negates the 540i's hp advantage, but if it was E39 M5 forget about it. For all its heft that thing is so tossable. I'd choose one over the m3 or an S4, well except in the winter.
