Default Quck Question - 2.0T Engine Oil

Hey All,

First posting here. I did a cursory search and didn't turn up what I was looking for. So, if it's an obvious answer, please excuse my ignorance.

Wife bought herself a new 2006 A4 Avant with the 2.0T and the service light came on last week. I'm guessing time for the first oil change. The owners manual lists an audi part number for the oil that's required. Oil is oil is oil. So, what oil does the 2.0T take? Should be standard weight synthetic right?

Any help would be appreciated.

you definitely don't need to buy oil at the audi dealership. you can get any fully synthetic oil. i recommend royal purple. mobil1 is also very good oil.

I forgot to mention that It is a US Spec Audi, in Germany. So, I'm pretty sure the typical dealer stuff doesn't apply.

Ask her dealer. Here in the USA Audi uses Castrol Syntec 5w-40.

I am in the same situation. The Audi warrenty is the same here as it is in the states as far as whats covered. The big difference is that it is only good for two years. So until that point, you can take it to the dealer. Where in Germany are you?
