Question on 2008 A4 CVT Transmission
Hi guys, I have a 2008 A4 2.0T with front wheel drive and the CVT transmission. I'm coming up on 50k miles and the warranty will be gone then.
I've heard the CVT transmission on this model is known to go out early, and I've heard a full rebuild can cost anywhere from 4-6k.
Does anyone know if these transmissions really are known to go out early (prior to 70k miles) and if so a rough percentage change of it happening to me?
I'm trying to debate between buying an extended warranty, crossing my fingers and hoping the tranny is fine, or just throwing in the towel and buying a new car (last resort since I just bought new tires, breaks and rotors!). Any advice would be appreciated!
