Ok. So i found a 1998 A4 1.8 fronttac 5sd with 96K on it and their asking 6500 for it. just had the clutch replaced but it needs a cv axle and the headliner in falling in the back. other than that it is in good condition. it has a hesitation problem that he said he was going to try and get fixed and said hed let me have it for 6 w/o fixing the headliner and cv axle. so i figure id offer him like 5500. do you guys think this is a good deal? lemme know all the help is appreaciated. thanks.

 

Yeah, that's a pretty good deal. I can bet that KBB (Kelly Blue Book) even in fair condition will give you somethin' significantly higher than that. If the car runs well, and it's in overall good condition, jump on it. a4's are a nice ride.

Thats not too bad, if its in good condition aesthetically then its a good buy. Just make sure he deals with that hesitation problem before you buy it, and ask if the timing belt has been changed recently.

However, before you buy someone elses car, get it checked by a VW/AUDI mechanic. Expect that there are at least 1500 additional in repairs that need to be done.
