Question about ECU swapping.
[:-] OMG!!!!! [:-]
thats really cheap....
Ive been looking around and the only place that has something close to 93 octane is 76.... they have 92! I dunno why they didnt just up it one more point but its $2.21... which is cheaper than the gas ive been getting.
The other thing I found was 100 octane (dont want to mess with that) which was about $5.00 a gallon.
Wow... I got to move out of this place! High gas prices, high repair costs.... High everything.
Too bad I love california. [&:]

I have a chance to buy an already chipped ECU with an APR chip. Ive always been curious about this though cause I have no idea if this affects anything. Also, the guy thats selling it is claiming 206hp which leads me to believe that he is using 93 octane... and I have no way of getting my hands on that type of fuel. Does it even matter?
Are the any drawbacks? Any Positive things about it besides having a spare ECU?

For a TBA: Just put the key in the car - turn the ignition to power on - DO NOT TURN THE ENGINE ON - wait two minutes with the electric power on (DO NOT TURN ON ANY POWER ACCESSORIES - LIKE THE RADIO) - turn off the power - now turn the engine on and drive away!
You will notice for the first few drives (about 100 miles) that the engine will respond "differently". It is getting used to the new mapping and your way of driving. Just drive the way you normally would drive and all will be sorted out by the ecu.
Always run with a minimum of 91 octane - 93 is better.

**** i thought i was paying alot..lol
