Question About Headlights
Hi, i have a 99 a4. i have been interested in buying some aftermarket HALO headlights, my question is, does anyone have these that fit with the Factory HID's?
most of the ones being sold on ebay say that they dont work with the factory HID bulbs, and must use halogen regular bulbs
any one that could help, would be awesome. thanks, Matt

I understand what msg890 is saying - I have wondered the same thing myself. The question being that if someone bought the cheapy HALO lights from ebay, could you put HID kit in the housing whether it be conversion kit or whatever - or would the HID bulbs burn up the housings? Anyone?...

Most halos on eBay are not compatible with HID either because they are not designed to project the amount of light and will do so dangerously or because their components are not designed to handle the amount of heat produced by an HID bulb. Since there are no factory halos, I think it really isn't going to matter how much you pay, they probably all will have one or both of those incompatibilities with HIDs. Do you have projector or the old reflector headlights? If you're not sure, do you have foglights down in your lower grilles or are they built into the headlights? If they're separate, I recommend just getting an HID kit from somewhere like vvme.com. If they're built into the same assembly, go ahead and get an HID kit, but don't get halos...I think you might be disappointed in how unamazing they look...maybe get a set of eBay depo projectors which are HID compatible. If you're really into the halos though and a listing doesn't mention HID, ask the seller before you buy them if they are HID compatible...they probably aren't.
