Default Question about instaling APR chip - 98 a4 1.8t

I am considering buying the APR chip for my Audi, but I was hoping that I could get some feedback before I made the purchase. My 98 a4 is relatively stock......all that I have done to it consists of wheels, EBC pads and rotors and a cold air intake. The APR chip looks like it will give me the most "bang for my buck", but I was wondering if I would need to upgrade anything before installing it. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for all the info guys. I am new to the boards, and didn't know there was a search until after I posted the message. I was just coming back to my original message to delete it after I found the search and noticed all the people getting flamed for asking about the APR chip. Oh well, and thanks for the tips.

and you cannot flash it either. you have to send your ecu to them, which means no car for 3 days!

Unless you have a local shop that sells APR chips you will need to send your ECU to APR or an APR shop to get the chip done. There are many DVs out there but most people seems to like either the Forge 007 series or the DV off the Audi TT the 710n

I basicaly have the same car as you, and the APR chip is fun and it makes the car a lot better, but i mostly do city/town driving so i wish i got the GIAC chip. But APR is great. Stratmosphere DV

Thanks for the tips on the DV guys...looks like I will be making a purchase soon then....as soon as I can find a car to borrow.

So you wish you got the GIAC chip...... from these boards, I getthe impression that has more low end power than the APR. I probably do 50/50 street/freeway driving. You think I should go with the GIAC? Also.....what part of the bay are you from? I'm out in the East.....that freeway driving I do is on 4.
