Question about my front grille...
Ok so I'm debating here...I really don't like all the chrome trim on the OEM front grille (and I'm really glad I didn't get the 2.8 with the chrome trim along the windows) and I'm thinkin about installing a Kamei sport grille that hasn't anything on it, but then I thought of something different.
I used VHT Niteshades on my taillights and LOVED it. So what if I masked the grille and then used Niteshades on all the chrome accents, including the Audi rings? Would it turn out in a dark chrome or possibly not work at all? Has anyone attempted this, or what is your opinion on trying this out?

that's not a very good write-up. the painting directions are ok, but he didn't use a clear coat, and he also painted the whole grill. i don't think that would turn out very well....here's a good thread to check out different grills, but it doesn't have a write-up. just use the one that panda linked you to, but remove the chrome trim from the grill (there are clips you'll see, it's pretty easy). and also wet-sand the last color coat, and apply a couple clear coats. using nightshades on the chrome will not turn out well at all, trust me. if you want the chrome gone, paint is the way to go.
i dont think nightshades will allow the chrome to peek through. that stuff is made for a backlit situation. but if u just want it glossy simply finish it off with a clear gloss coat.
Wow, I really like the look of blacking out everything except the rings. I'm gonna put the Kamei grille on when I get it and try that; if I end up missing the rings I'll either add them to the Kamei or paint the factory grille.
