I'm french and i hope you will be able to answer to my questions.

My car : A4 B5 1.8 T QUATTRO AEB from january 1996

My MAF : OEM : 058 133 471A ( bosch 0280 217 112 )

My local dealer vag my car last week end tell me my MAF was dead ( my car run too rich , bad idle, poor acceleration ... usual symptoms )

The price to change this MAF is 400 Euros ( about 500 Dollars )!!!!!!
On online shops , i can't have a bosch remplacement ( 0280 217 112 ) at less than 290 Euros.

Do you think i can use a bosch 0 280 217 117 ( cheaper # 80 Dollars !!!) on my car ??

this item is for the AEB engine past 12/96.

is it risky for the engine ?

I've heard to that it is possible to use PIERBURG MAF AIR SENSOR A6110940048.

Do you know something about it ??

In the states, the MAF is part of emissions. it is covered up until 70k miles. It only cost me 50 deductible. other wise its "free".

The dealer charged me $120 plus 1/2 hour labour. They took my old one and gave me a refurbished.
