On the other hand, I consider it a great way of ensuring that you don't smoke in your car.

As long as you are investing in your car, consider purchasing a VAG-COM and a Bentley factory service manual (on CD). Both are good long term investments and will pay back many times over the years.

Check to see if you have the sound system manual. It has a card with the code in it.

If not, as previously said, the code is sometimes in the trunk spare wheel well on the lower left corner of the vehicle ID. If not, the code is sometimes hand written on a little paper sticker on the crossmembers under the rear shelf. Stuffing yourself into the trunk with a flashlight and doing some serious searching can sometimes locate it..

My advice when purchasing a car used (esp if high miles) is to first swap out all the fluids (inc transmission, power steering, brake, differentials), top up the battery with distilled water (they are low maintenance, not no maintenance). Fix things that are broken

Keep 1000 dollars in the bank for unexpected breakdowns.

Find a good mechanic who specializes in VW/Audi
Get familiar with ECS tuning, and used part suppliers such as dadsauto.com (afterall, the rest of your car is used)

Once all the above is done, then start modifying.

Hello.
Well the mp1 will stop buy pressing the button on the tip of your blinker lever, you may have to press it a few times
untill it shows on your dash the mp1 with slashes through it.
