Default Questions on Brake Pads

Hey guys

its that time of year again, im in the market for some new brake pads and i got a few questions

1. what is the benifit of ceramic brake pads?
2. would you get ceramic or regular brake pads?
3. have you had any great experiences with any particular brake pad? do you reccomend any brand?

thanks

1. Ceramic pads make less dust. Factory pads make alot of dust.
3. Some people seem to like those green stuff pads. Supposed to increase perfomance and decrease dust. Personally i dont buy it thou. Pads can only do so much for brake performance.

If you dont like the dust i would go with ceramic. Otherwise i would just get a set of factory pads.

I got a set of Ceramic pads from ECS. They have a selection of different types that may fit your driving style.

Kinda related question...
I have noticed that most sites offer pads both with and without wear sensors. Is it necessary to get the pads with the sensors? If not, what would be the benefits from having the sensors?

(I own a 96 A4 quattro 2.8, by the way... guess the answers may vary by model year...)

You dont need sensors. Your car isnt equipped with the wiring for them. There really isnt a benifit from them. Either you have them and you need pads with them or you dont and theres no reason to get them unless you want a couple wires hanging near your wheels.

I have PBR ceramics and I really like them. Apparently the wear out quickly, but they seem to work great... very low dust, which was what I wanted!
