Quick question: Car heats up occasionally - P1296
Hey guys,
I have an appointment with my mechanic in 2 hours regarding my A4 overheating problem.
My car overheats occasionally, typically on hot days driving in the city about twice a week and I see the temperature going high between 90 and 130F and I get a flashing warning saying fill coolant fluid.
The coolant fluid is full and doesnt leak and my engine sign is on.. when I did a scan it gave me a code P1296 error.
Do you guys think I should replace just the coolant fluid thermostat sensor (as in http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng66.shtml) or should I also change the thermostat as well (another $100 job) at the same time?
thank you
