Radio Lockup! And Squeak!??? HELP!
Im new to this but i have a 96 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro auto. Just recently the batter went dead (due to someone leaving my lights on!) and when i jumped it the radio screen displayed "LOCKED". I didnt know what it was so i hit a few buttons and now the screen will not show anything! I have read over the radio manual included (Audi Delta CC) and have the instructions and the code to get it running again i just cant get the screen to display anything!!! Its really frustrating! I was told by my local dealer to just turn the key to run and let it sit for an hour and it should reset itself to try again, i have done this with no help! Does anyone know how i can get the "LOCKED" to display again???
Also just recently my car started squeaking in the front. I met someone in a parking lot the other day with a similar car (1.8T) that was doing the same thing! I brought it to the dealer today and they say its the front control arm and quoted me at $700 to fix!? Know anything else about it or have/had a similar problem? RE: Radio Lockup!
the car will show lockout if you unsuccesfully enter code like 3 times.heres whats for my car(different models are different buttons).screen should be empty.press and hold the fm2 and the rds button at same time, this should after a few seconds give you the code screen.then use preset buttons 1-4 to enter your code.my code is 1492,so as i remember i hit preset 1 once, preset 2 4 times, preset 3 9 times, and preset 4 2 times.hope this helps

RE: Radio Lockup!
Check to see if there was a recall on your control arms, the dealer might replace them for you.. but only on certain ones..
On the radio part, since its not showing anything, I think its a matter of bad timing with bad luck, your radio display probably went out, because when your Radio locks you out it will let you know, there isnt any part of that process where the screen should go blank.. |
RE: Radio Lockup!
no disrespect to a 5 star, but that is not true with the radio.the radio must be put into code retrieval mode,by pressing fm2 and rds buttons at same time, until then, screen should be blank.i just did this for the second time at the dealership because i forgot which 2 buttons were the ones for code retrieval.they had a hard time at first because they said different years used different buttons for retrieval.mine is 98 a4,prod.date 11-97.
