i have the exact same problem. i have a '99 and its dark blue. it only goes off on really hot days for some reason though. i usually have the windows open a little bit and the sunroof cracked, does the car not like having the windows open or something?

So it seems that it mainly goes off when it's hot out and the windows are cracked a bit.

Some sort of security thing maybe? Letting you know the windows are down?

My alarm is now sounding with the doors unlocked, and thealarm turned off.
Battery cable connections are good.

happens to me everytime i leave the windows down. i think the wind actually can set off the motion sensors inside. so everytime you leave a window down, open drivers door, press the button the the pillar, then close and lock. problem solved.

thats use to happened to me when i would have the windows down slightly or sometimes when i leave the dog in the car it will just go off and i dont have the avant i have a 96 a4 and i think its just kinda common but doesnt happen to much anymore but it would only tend to do it when i would leave the windows down and it stopped for me when i closed all the windows...yea closing the windows will solve the problem more then likely.

I'm having the same exact problem. It would go off at random times, last for 10-15 seconds and then turn off by itself. It only makes the sound, but no flashing lights.
My windows are up, so I don't think it's over-sensitive problem because I've been parking on the same spots for years and it's fine.
Another thing I noticed is the fact that when I press the panic button, it ONLY flashs the lights but no sound. Anyone knows what's wrong?

I have the same problem with my car alarm! I have an 03 a4 (B6). It started last night after I vacuumed out my interior, so I'm thinking I pulled a wire, or something? I don't know. Has anyone found a definite fix other than lowering the sensitivity? My car was parked in a closed garage with the windows up, so I don't think that's it.

Thanks.
