I have a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro (Auto) with a stock deck and whatnot. I have the premium package if that matters.

I see on the radio the station name and in the dash too. But I cannot (for the life of me) figure out how to get the song title/description/info to be displayed.

Anyone have any thoughts? I remember asking the dealership about it, and they said that it was only the station ID.

 

It depends on the station, some will transmit the name of the song and the station, and some just the station. So its station dependant.

 

I'm in the Toronto area. I know these stations supply the song info. My dad's solara convertable can show the song info, but he pushes a button to see that.

I've tried pushing all the buttons (hehehe) and no song data, just the station. Maybe I'm missing something.

Do you have an 04 A4 with factory deck? Do you see the song data? Does it come up automatically?

 

No i have a 2000 with the same capability and it tells me at least the station name if not the name of the song. It seems to vary by station.

 

+1 it depends on the station at the current time. sometimes you see everything, sometimes just the station. the radio will recieve everything, but i dont think the station always sends the info.

 

Agree, its really hit or miss depending on the station and time.

You are comparing apples to oranges as far as car makers go. Toyota and Audi, so their stereo/rbds functions may operate differently. But you should just be able to press the RBDS button and it should work.

 

when I push the RDS button, the station ID shows up for me. When I push it again, it turns off. I have tried the other buttons on the radio, and none of them have anything do to with the RDS.

The point about me mentioning my fathers car is that his car displays the song info for the same station that I've set mine to. Which means that the song info is being broadcasted via RDS.

Does anyone out there have a 2004 A4 with the stock radio and can view the song details?

 

I just bought a 2004 A4 avant w/ stock symphony II (no Bose).

The RDS button does display song info on mine - but only on a few stations. It scrolls between display the station name, the artist, and the song title.
