Default Rear Suspension Squeek - 99.5 A4

First post, long time lurker and yes, I searched but found nothing relevant.

I've got an annoying squeek coming from the rear suspension when a bump is hit. Example: the driveway to my house is typical Texas subdivision-style concrete with a step about 2 - 3" and when I drive over it (at about 2 mph) the rear suspension squeeks at compression. That's really the only time I notice it.

Anything I should look for back there? BTW - it's a Quattro.

TIA

Thanks for the info but, most importantly, thanks for the warm welcome (from a Mod, no less).

Dude - the control arm issue is THE MOST common issue on our cars.
Search for "squeak" and what do you get... You could not have searched for more than 5 seconds.
I didn't mean to be rude, but if you really searched you would have found the answer quicker than you took to post the request.

most importantly, thanks for the warm welcome (from a Mod, no less).

Mine is doing that exact same thing... Any time I go over a speed bump, or hit a pot hole, I get a metalic "chirp" from the right rear... The local shop's here won't work on the car to fix it, so I have to wait until I get down to Seattle... It just really annoy's me when I'm driving with all of the window's down...

it has to be the most annoying thing ever - and eventually the most embarrasing. I hated driving with it. It will only get louder, so might as well fix it.

Yeah you'll find it'll happen in the front too... mine is in the front passenger side. There is a DIY on Audiworld of how to replace the things yourself.

I guess I should have used your spelling for "squeak" because I went through four pages of results from "squeek" and found nothing incredibly relevant.

well, seeing as how "squeek" is not a word (according to websters), you might wish to search on correct spelling to get correct results.
