Default Rebuilt head, new head, or can i get mine rebuilt...

I just got off the phone with APR, had an interesting converstaion. they described all the problems I was having with the car to a T before i even said anything. Im going to do this with out naming names or pointing fingers and most of you know a bit about the situation i would rather you didnt post up any negative comments or any negativity towards any forum members or past members. the car I bought went in to APR to be retuned for the new injectors, it was found to be unfit because it failed a leakdown test on the intake side meaining the intake side valves where not seating properly messing with the AF rations casuisng all sorts of problems including misfires, erratic boost and every other problem that I had. After telling the owner this APR was told to retune the car and get it running the best they could. so the car has a half assed program to maskt the problem..
now i have the car.. i want to fix it, because I like it, part of me wants to sell it but I couldnt sell a car with all these problems so im going to first fix the head b4 I do any other modifications.

what I need to know is how I should proceed, cost being an issue, dont know if i can get my head rebuild and where to go or how much a new one would be..
like I stated above leave eveyone out of this no naming names I dont want to get into a pissing contest with anyone I dont need that crap.. Im going to do a leakdown of my own this weekend but to be honest i dont really think i need to.. after looking at the whole picture and all the information the answer is easy to sopt..

timming is fine and the bottom end is in great shape from what they told me.. just the head needs to be replaced he also said a full bottom end would be good as well but i think im just going to do the head work and see how it runs b4 i take apart the whole engine.. its going to be really hard to perform a leak down test like they did without propor skills might take it somewhere..

oh damn... that really really sucks.. but atleast apr is telling you whats up instead of having you dump more money into it and not fixing it

i dont see why you couldnt rebuild yours, it should be warped or anything
go for a port and polish too

or better yet pick up an aeb head in the classifieds

remember the engine is in 2 parts ( bottom end and top end ) so don't go replacing the complete engine from the info you give its a top end setup problem possibly timing belt but worth a look

Sorry to hear that.

I remember when you were looking at this car way back when. In your thread, I said "I would never buy a car sight unseen without test driving it and all". This is exactly why I said that. You just never know what you're going to end up with, without thouroughly inspecting it, or having an audi dealer inspect it for you.

Maybe this is a good lesson for all, "Dont buy a car without test driving it and having it inspected".

Anyway, doesn't sound too awful bad, just get the heads rebuilt and move forward. Its still a nice car, and once its fixed you'll have a sweet ride.

Sorry to hear that. Search the different forums classifieds for a new head. AEB head wont work on an ATW bottom end i dont think, andthe valve cover bolt pattern is different too im pretty sure. I think it would cost you more to have it rebuilt than to buy a used head, but it may take longer to find one that is in good shape... But now that i think about it, with your luck, maybe you dont want to chance getting scammed again and end up buying a used head with bad valves... Maybe you should get it rebuilt... As for where, I dunno. If its just a valve problem DIY.
