I was thinking that on the way home.. could i just replace the valves myself? and if i could where would I get the parts..
Im honestly not sure if you need a machine shop or speacial toolsto press in/out any bearings on the cams or what to do the valves... I'll check the bently.

You can buy aftermarket ones through different tuning companies, Heads are fairly easy to rebuild yourself, and if you don't know what you're doing find a friend (you've got to have one) that does know... its simpler than it looks. A good port and polish would always help before you slapped it back on, and it is probably worth every penny, because once you're done, she'll beone mean machine.

dude if it were me Id find a good local machine shop and just have them rebuild it...... it can be done on your own but its not too expensive and having it done exactly right will be best but if you pull the head and do all that work you will save money

What engine code does your car have?
Try replacing the o rings on the injectors before you start any head work.4 o-rings will cost about $2. Any auto parts store should have some.

Way down at the bottom, you will find the cylinder head parts.

I bought my 2000 A4 1.8TQ from a friend who 120,000 on it never replaced timing belt and it bent 12 of 20 valves when belt went. So before I did I called around and searched alot ! Dealer price for new head with cam chain and tensioner Cost was $2,000.00 to $2,300 [sm=insomnia.gif] so no thanks for this prodject.I remeber seeing one on ebay brand new $1,200 to $1,500 from some shop you could get lucky.I think the guys at Cam motors or Cam cylinder heads I finaly went with had an add on audi forums at the time I call them and they where very helpful and some nice southern guys. The Rebuilt head cost me $800.00 shipped and they take your old head to rebuild they send you a box to send back shipping free.I waited about two weeks to see if they received in a ATW cylinder head and they got one in and rebuilt it in a couple days and I received it I think A week later. If I took my head out and sent it to them earlier they said they may be able to repair it cheaper then $800. But I paid a buddy to do all the work so I just worked on getting all the parts together for the job because he was able to do it in one day/8hours NICE! He took a head and was imprest beacuse they use a 3 way (grinder?) to cut the value seats he said they did a good job. I can find all my receipt if you want to go the same route I did Because its the cheapest I could go with keeping a degree of Quality.I tell you all the detail if you have questions but heres a rough list of what I paid and where the parts where from.

Cylinder head- Cam (cylinder heads?) $800
Cam chain tensioner- Rock Auto or Allimportparts $100 est You need to go new here
Cam chain- ' ' ' ' $30-50 ' '
Head bolts Dealer $10 X 10 = $200 wtf
Head bolts -Parts Bin $3 x 10= $30 A must to go New here to!!!!!!
Full gasket kit - Ebay $90
Timing belt +all other belts water pump thermostate
and tesioners -Ebay Co in Groton CT $250 Timing belt was Wrong no biggy $55 loss
Timing belt last minute- NAPA $55 but just happy they had one
Labor from friend that works on foreigncars $400 Worth every penny I was pretty good at
supervising to.I worked on all my cars til this
prodject he flew threw this job I just got in the
way if I tried to help.

Those where all the main parts I think, the car runs strong no problems with parts. Just the common control arms, Maf, Vacume lines Etc.....high maintence but I love her anyway.

It does require a few tools most people don't have. You would need the Cam chain tensioner compressor and there is a special socket for the head bolts.
