Default Recommend Checker ODBII code reader?

Checker has a ODBII reader on sale for $100. Does anybody have experience with that model? Sorry, didn't see the brand, but it's blue and black.

i rly wouldn't wry bout investing in one right now cuz ur car only has 32k on it but if u need one, don't get one that's too complexed. there's ones that have realtime which means u can check air fuel ratio and stuff like a vag but it's not worth. i believe there's one that's like 30 bux that has the scan and erase functions.

Be careful with the lower end consumer stuff. I picked up one unit from carquest for ~$120 or so, but it kept erroring out when trying to communicate with the vehicle. I took it back and swapped it out for the cheaper $70'ish actron CP9125, which works great. I now also have VAG-Com, which is great and all, but dragging a laptop out to the car kinda sucks (soon to be remedied with in-car pc104 computer).

my friend has a blue and black one it might be the one you are talking about. i tried that one on my 98 a4 and it came up with an error screen. i could not figure it out. it must not be able to read it for some reason. it works on his s-10 though....now iam saving up for the VAG-Com

this is what you need if its newer than 02 because it has CANbus, it will also work on the older cars, VAG is the best though

CAN-BUS started in 2005. This code reader should work for 2002.

Thanks for the input. I went on the checker site and found more info.

Equus code scanners ($129) on sale for $100 until Oct. 28th.
Includes free OBD2 TekLink(tm) Software and cable to generate detailed diagnostic reports and update the tool via the Internet

Has anybody used this software? The VAG COM software would be nice, but don't want to pay $300.

Appreciate your time.....Larry

The unit ^^^ , reads all 4 computers; ECU
SRS, ABS and TIP.
It costs less than $30. Check with alpha-bid, to make
sure it works on 2004 A4s.
