Default reducing rattle in trunk from subs

I installed 2 12" subwoofers in my trunk. They hit really hard and the amp gain/bass is not even half way up. The problem is that i get a lot of rattle and it's killing my sound quality. First off, my rear license plate rattles badly. It only has 2 bolts in it now, i am going to buy 2 more so it has all 4 corners down...but i think i need something else. A piece of rubber or something under it?

Next is my trunk lid. It rattles pretty bad and when my music is up or a song has a lot of bass...that rattles and it's all i hear. I cannot listen to some songs because they just sound awful with the rattle.

Can anyone please give me some info on those 2 areas on how to kill the rattle? I would be looking for the most cost effective way.

would i have to dyno matt the bottom of the trunk (lift the sub box up and get under it), or can i just put the material on the trunk lid?

also, dyno matt trunk kit is like 70 something bucks...are there any alternatives or places to buy where it's cheaper....ebay possibly?

yeah ... dyn matt is very expensive ... i use the stuff then put under new flooring to insult my car ... you can get it at like flooring stores and its alot cheaper .... i'd get the more expensive stuff it looks just like dyno mat and does just as good of job ( in my opinion ) , the cheap stuff is just foam ... but you have to then use like 3M spray ahesive or whatever to make it stick to the trunk ... i've got a 12" also i'm gonna have hooked up here in a couple days ... so i'm sure i'll be doing the same to my trunk soon

yea i would start by putting dynamat on the trunk, if it still rattles buy more and stick it other places.

ooh and dynomat sells a kit specially made for license plates too.

Dynamat is expensive, take a look at "second skin" http://www.secondskinaudio.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?_scb=1

You paint it or spray it on so you get better/easier coverage and its much cheaper with better results on average. This is what I'll be getting when it gets warmer to do my under carriage, doors, trunk and wheel wells and possibly their engine bay product for under the hood and firewalls.

I have a sub (one 10"), there is some rattle but not too much. I put 4 bolts in my license plate and took out the Reflective Triangle assembly (I noticed that was rattling alot). It still rattles a bit but unless you can spend a decent amount of money you can never get rid of all the rattles. I tried dynomat in my Volvo, with 2 12" subs and it didn't do much. However, this second skin stuff sounds enticing..

Dynomat is good if you can apply it to the correct areas. I've never used that spray but I have seen it and it seemed to work well. Obviously major ratteling comes from pieces of metal, etc. vibrating on eachother... try to hunt down the major areas and sometimes you can caulk them. Put up some pictures of the spray on!
