regular to synthetic?

ok i just got my 1997 a4 2.8 and i was wondering if it is safe to switch from regular to synthetic, what kind do u guys use

I have the same engine and year. I use Mobile1 0W-30. And yes it is safe to make the switch.

Make the change. The oil should meet ACEA A3 or A5.

Yes, you should use OEM MANN or Mahle filters.

Yes to Mobil 1 filter, Bosch is also good.
