Default Reliability of an A4?

I currently have a 99 M3 but im thinking about trading it in for a 2000 A4 1.8t quattro. Unfortunately, i don't know much about audi's. I just want to get some feed back on them. How reliable are they? How long do the engines last? How hard are they to work on, etc? Any input would be great. Thanks!

the stock M3 may be faster but the 1.8T is a very mod friendly motor to work with

other than very expensive dinan aftermarket parts bmw dont offer the variety you can get with the audi.

i say do it.....turn that 1.8T into a M eater

i would stick wit the M3 just give it a lil boost and that engine is crazy, but the stock 1.8t will be like a slug to u compared to the M3

but the 1.8t has great potential

wow, did i somehow wander over to the BMW forum here?!?!

DaveL, M3s are nice, and pretty quick from the factory...but the 1.8T has more potential and if you like modding and working on your car, you'll love the audi much more....and i would say alot of things on the audi are going to be easier to work on than the M3.

Don't you guys think that stock S4 would lose to the stock M3 in the straight line if it would be a quattro version? (or all S4 have 4Wd)
