So, how exactly reliable are these A4's? So many mixed reviews, people saying any Audi built before 2002 is a peice of **** and other says dream machines capable of 300,000+ miles.

If I were to purchase an Audi it would be an A4 with 80,000+ miles and maintained well with minimal performance mods. What kind of mileage am I looking to get out of these cars? Anything I should be aware of? I'll replace it off the bat.

If you can't afford to own a high quality automobile, don't buy it. Repairs may be higher, if they're not covered by warranty, but it's the cost of owning a great car.

So, I can safely assume A4's aren't meant for 200,000+ miles?

I did search, obviously you didn't actually read my post and just read "reliability" and made a bot like response. All the threads shown are for 2000+ audis and nothing about long lasting.

If you take care of it most german/european cars will live long past 200k. Unlike many american cars Iwhich I find even with regular maintenance will keep giving you trouble and start dieing on you past 150k. Thats just my experience...

honestly, if reliability is your concern, but a honda or toyota
and audi requires preventitave maintence like no other.. and if you arent up to that, or dont have time for that...then it isnt the car for you

If you want more reliability and won't mod much get the 2.8, 1.8t's have more problems but you can mod a lot with them.

and yes, these cars can go well past 200k

Yes the audi does need more preventive maintenance but in the end you'll be happier with an audi... Take care of it and it will take care of you...
