I have a 2000 non-bose and I needed a custom one. There isn't a dash kit for my car.

Welcome to my world... and the world of the 2000 and 2001 non-bose a4 owners. Sucks ***.
You can re-wire the car easily enough... IF you do that though, you might consider wiring it twice, if you don't have a speaker amp. Wire it once to your HU, and then run wire from each speaker (not hooked up) to the trunk of the car... and label them all. So if you add a speaker amp (something you will want to do if you want better sound) then they'll all be right there for a super clean install.

Here is a pic of the custom dash kit thing I had made... cost me 110CDN. I am happier with it than I have ever been with a metra kit. It is more befitting an audi.

Holy nice dash kit headshok! Who made that for you? Can they make more? That's the nicest headunit bezel I've ever seen. I've thought about changing my headunit, but I think as long as it works right I'm not going to bother with it, too much trouble. I have thought about upgrading the speakers, does anyone know what sizes the stock speakers are? I went to crutchfield and they only said 6.5" for the rear deck, didn't say anything about the fronts or rear doors. The stock Symphony doesn't sound too bad until you really try to get it loud, then the speakers can't really handle the power. So if I could get better speakers in there I think I'd be happy with the overall sound, especially with the Bose EQ mod, which helped a ton.

Kromer Radio made it for me. They are in Ontario Canada, and yeah they did a fantastic job -- I was very happy.

So you have non-bose? Hmm. The symphony speakers are still pretty good, but when you turn up the volume, they simply aren't being fed enough power to play the music without distortion. Upgrade your speaker amp to something that puts out like 50w x 4 RMS and you'd be able to go quite a bit louder.

5.25" speakers in the front doors, not sure about the rears. Depth is important too... not sure what the #'s are though!

I was considering selling my dash thing... but I am not sure. I am tossing the idea of moving the HU down as far as it will go in the hole, and putting a couple guages (boost and oil pressure) above the HU, all in the custom dash kit.

Not sure though.
