Default Removing undercar protection for oil change

I just got back from Wal Mart (yes Wal Mart, they offered to change oil and put in Mobil 1 synthetic for $35 bucks) and they said they could not change my oil because of the scrape guard or whatever the plastic shield is called that is on the underside of the car.

I decided this was the catalyst I need to begin changing my own oil. I think I have everything figured out but how to remove the plastic shield. I did a search and did not find any information on how to remove this. Anyone give me an idea of how to remove the scrape guard? Also I think I read on this forum that the recommended amount of oil to be put in the A4 1.8TQM is 4 quarts intead of 5, am I correct?

Thanks!

lol! Walmart - that cracks me up. Never go there again! It's removed with a flathead screwdriver, there is like 6 quick release screws. Half a turn and they pop out.

Since this is your first time here's the instructions:

1. Jack the car up and place jack stands under it, or better yet go buy the rino ramps. I also chock the rear wheels just in case. Put on the parking brake.
2. remove the underside cover.
3. remove the oil fill on top of the engine.
4. Remove the oil pan bolt toward the front of the engine, make sure you arent removing the transmission plug (further back).
5. Remove oil filter. If it won't turn easily, you may have to use an oil filter wrench or hammer a screw driver in it to make it turn.
6. let oil drain out untill it barely drips.
7. Take the new filter and fill it up a little, (half or so). Also dip your finger in bottle of new oil, and run your finger around the seal of the new filter. This will make it easier to remove next time.
8. Place the new filter on, and hand tighten it.
9. Put oil plug back in, with a new crush washer.
10. Fill oil with 4.3 quarts of oil.
11. Replace oil filler cap. Done!

Now that you have decided to change your own oil, you may want to change to a synthetic like mobile One, 0w-40.

It's held in with screws underneath. Just lay under the car and it'll become clear.

If you don't have a screwdriver that's short enough to get at the four in the wheel wells, a quarter will do the trick.

Don't forget the plastic twist clips that hold the belly pan to the fender liners.
Its not only the metal screws that hold it in place.
