Default Replacing Rotors and Brakes...

Hey guys,

I am replacing my front OEM rotors and pads with a nice set of Brembo cross-drilled/slotted and some hawk pads.

For those of you who have replaced your rotors and pads, is there anything I should be aware of or watch out for when doing this replacement? I know this is pretty basic... but it is brakes and my technical know-how is limited. My buddy that is helping me with this has significant car knowledge, but I don't want to hear "oh, I haven't seen that before".

Thanks.

Yeah I was reading that... pretty straight-forward for fronts. Rears look like a B****.

should be pretty easy. Just get the caliper tool for the rears from Harbor Freight or rent one from Autozone and you should be good.

fronts are a piece of cake, i did them my self and i dont have a lot of knowledge of cars, i didnt do the backs becuase mine were shot and i didnt want to go find that special tool and there harder so i paid for an hour of labor, but i saved about 600 from buying the pads, rotors my self and installing the fronts myself, this page really helped me. http://johnvey.com/features/a4brakes/

Since you are getting new stuff, get it for A8. A8 rotors fit A4 (dont know what year you have tough) Bigger is better

Bigger is always better.... except when you are putting a set of 15s on for the winter [:@]

I would have gone with a BBK... but the winter tires/rims kinda "x"ed that idea. I got a good deal too through one of the members on the board for a set of brembos anyways - oem size.

what tool do you need to do the brakes. When I did mine, I didn't need any sort of tool for the rears....???
