Replacing timing belt today
I'm replacing my timing belt today after work anything I should need to know before I go ahead and do it. I have all of the parts from ecs and a new snub mount. I s there anything else I need to be concerned about while I'm in there?
After work? You are the man! I'm going to do mine tomorrow. I got the kit from ECS as well. I was also considering doing the cam seals why I was down there. I've read on this forum that a lot of guys do that when doing a timing belt change.
Well I get out at 1 today and me and a friend are going top bang this out. I should probably call the auto parts store and have them deliver cam seals to me. Also I need to have them deliver G12 coolant is that the regular pink stuff or is this special for AUdi?
do the water pump and thermostat while you're in there. It's all part of the ECS kit if you got the complete kit. The one thing the kit doesn't have is the o-ring between the pump housing and the engine block. I didn't replace mine (b/c I didn't have it and wouldn't wait) but I'd replace it if I did it all over again.
If you search the archives for "timing belt" you will see more details I provided someone else the day after I did mine, so it was pretty detailed. It's tedious but not all that bad.

Too late for pics. I had a friend from work help mr do it. The worst part was getting the bumper off the rest is cake, and it went back together so easily. However the auto parts store down by work are MORONS. I went in there for G12 coolant they looked at me like I had 2 heads, a zit the size of mount everest on my nose, and broken glasses. They were absolutely useless so I called a friend and he picked some up for me and brought it down. All in all it was simple. Oh yeah if you want pics and a complete walk through here you go.
