Ok, strictly, a chipped 1.8t or a chipped 2.8. No diversions. What car would you rather own, in terms or power, reliability, modability (if you like modding, like it stock...), etc.- make an overall judgement and don't be a douschebag or say "be more specific." Which car is better. Simple!

 

1.8T hands down. But i hate the pleather. 2.8 is for your wife. (no offense to the 2.8 crowd)

It gets posted every week because people disagree over it. Please, show me a recent poll in which members have voted. The point is, to get a numerical statictic indicating what the majority of frequent posters here prefer. Please, read into the intentions of my posts more carefully.

If you take the time to join Audiforums.com, you are somewhat of a "fanatic".. If you are somewhat of a "fanatic," you'll he happiest with the 1.8t for the experience.. Or you can just supercharge a 2.8 and get similar gains but not have as much fun or appreciation in the process.. maybe?? I dunno, something like that.. yeah...

Plus, turbo's are cool.

 

If the modding had to end at chipping it... I'd prolly take a 2.8... but as I don't want to stop at chipping, the 1.8T was the right choice for me.

 

Inline 4 Turbocharged Engine... That's where I'm at home.

They're easy to work on, easy to understand, easy to modify. So I'm a 1.8T guy.

 

Everyone who replies is just gonna put whichever type of car they own. Its like comming here and asking if they would prefer an Audi or Lexus.

 

Agreed, Nut I still hope that a chipped 1.8t will have enough low end gutsto to make me not have to nail the gas in 3rd gear and on to go anywhere.


thats not true I have a 1.8t a4 and I love the car to death but given the chance to trade straight up for a similar option car with a 2.8 I would without hesitation. The reason is I didnt buy my audi for performance or modding and a stock 2.8 has enough gusto for me, while a pre 2001 1.8t does only in 1st and 2nd.

 

haha like headshock said, if it had to end at chipping i'd choose 2.8 also. but if i could go further.. 1.8t without doubt
