Default Returning Audi Owner

After a bad decision to trade my 01 A4 on a Mazda 6s, I am back with Audi. I just drove home a brand new 2006 A4 Avant last night. I got the six-speed stick, Premium, Cold Weather, and sunroof packages. What a nice car. I always missed my 01 and I'm so happy to be back.

My only gripes are:

Who the hell designed the arm-rest?????? Do I really have to lift it all the way up and back down to get it lower after the emergency brake pushes it up???? How did that get through testing?

Has anyone else noticed the sound of the stereo fading slightly in and out at higher volumes? I have noticed this with my CDs. It is subtle, but noticiable. Strange.

Anyway, I look forward to spending a lot of time on this board. I have been an avid Audiworld fan for years, but I hate the format of that forum.

So...which chip should I get? (just kidding)

Cheers.

Congrats, welcome back and welcome to the B7 Club.

The armrest thing is a pain in the ***. You get used to it, though. As gripes go, it's not that major, IMO. The deal with the stereo is that it has some sort of automatic volume compensation for ambient noise. It really does work, only sometimes you actually notice it and it's a little weird.

I'm getting an APR next week. So far APR seems to be the software of choice for the B7.

As far as the e brake you may not need to pull it up so far for it to engage. You may want to try pulling it up only a few clicks. It should still engage without the need to readjust the armrest. Leaving the veicle in high gear will be some insureance. As far as the radio goes they have always had a svc (speed volumn control). It adjusts volumn based vehicle speed. There used to be an adjustment for it and there probably still is. You may want to check the owners manuel as it is usually posted in there as to adjustment method.
