When I first got my Audi (1999 A4 Quattro) it rode like the wind. Very smooth and speedy. Within the last few months the car has been riding like a dog. It idles very roughly, and has virtually no power. and when I start the car up, the rpms go up like crazy and back down 2 seconds later. Does anyone know what the problem might be??? It does have 90,000 miles on it. Maybe the turbos are out??? Would it help to buy any new parts???? Thank you.

 

Id check for vac leaks maybe a bad dv is the power issue

 

Yeah one of your turbos is probably out.. Check all 4 of them to be safe.

Thanks for the input. How hard would it be to check the turbos??? Could I do it?? or is it complicated? Any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

 

You only have 1 turbo. onepoint8tee just has a smartmouth

Pull of the Turbo intake pipe, and check for shaft play. If you you move the compressor blades side to side you have a problem.

diverter valve... recirculates your air under boost back into the system to releive pressure from the spinning compressor wheel
