Default Rims / Tire Size

Has anyone bought a set of the OE RS4 Rims (18x8.5 / 35mm offset) on Ebay? They are 8.5" wide as opposed to other replicas like the ones on Achtuning.com which are 8.0". I plan to lower my car (1.8TQ) with some sort of kit (thinking about the H&R/Bilstein Sport Combo kit from AWE). Audi OEM S4 18s are only 8". Could this be a problem? Would they fit/rub? Perform the same as the others?

OE sells sets delivered for $600 (includes original Audi center caps). Other websites listed on the forum, such as Achtuning, sell a similar product for $960 with caps (shipping will be extra). That's $400-$500 available for other fun things. Please provide your opinion.

Also, it seems that 235/40/18 is the right tire size, but there have been a couples sights that recommended 225s. Any ideas? Thanks...

the problem with the OEM ones is they are known to bend easily

Thanks Cl...I did read that on a few different sites...

Another quick question, does the weight of the wheel (unsprung) have an impact on perfomance? The OE cust. service rep. didn't know how much the 18s weighed?

haha I'm not 100% sure but I would say yes that heivier wheels would be a performance issue that is why light wieght wheels cost so much

I thought that the actual RS4's would bend and were weak...but the replicas were stronger? Does this sound right to anyone else?

you probably don't want 225s on an 8.5 inch wheel. You should be fine with 235/40-18s.
Check out www.tirerack.com and browse through the tire section to get an idea of what to buy.

Thanks Yuikio....something else....Will 18s reduce the performance of the vehicle? A post on another website said ithey would...Anyone?

I'm all about looking good, but performance has to come first...
