Rock chipped my windshield
Last night coming home from work I heard the sound that makes every car owner cringe... the loud SNAP of a rock hitting the windshield.
This morning I noticed a tiny chip, DIRECTLY in front of my face. Fortunately the window didn't crack or anything, and it wouldn't bother me at all except that it's right where I can see it while driving.
The chip is only about 1mm in size. Is there a way to fill it in? Will a glass company fix something so small?

You can get a little syringe thing at an auto parts store that has a suction cup on the end of it, you stick it to the window and fill the chip in. A friend of mine used it on his truck and the chip never spread. It's worth a shot i think he paid about $5 for it.
It's more like a scratch than a chip actually... like a microscopic pit. Would the syringe thing work on that?
I think it's just the outermost laminate that got scratched, and not the glass itself.

I have 2 small chips in my windshield and the biggest 1 is right in front of my face. When i fill it ill post up how well it worked. Ive done this on other cars before and came to the conclusion that its only for tiny chips.

any chip has the possibility of becoming a crack, change in temperature can be a bitch. That sealant is supposed to expand and contract with the glass, and i think it's worth a shot, $5 versus a new windshield.
I used to do windshield repair, there should be someone in your area with the "free windshield repair" banners hanging around (they go through your insurance if you have full coverage, and it doesnt cost you anything, and rates wont increase). It involved using a dremel, a glass drilling bit, epoxy resin, and hardener (specially made for the application), a bridge (it sucked the air out of the glass, and filled it with the resin). Its really easy and only takes about 15 minutes, but for a pro kit like we had it would run a minimum of $800, however the windshield would be good as new and you couldn't see any damage, nor would the crack spread. Cracks only spread if they have air trapped inside them, so by removing the air and replacing it with resin, it makes it good as new. One time i did a golf ball spider in a 05 Tahoe, mommy and daddy's rich little 18 yr old bitch had 6 t.v.'s in that thing, it was rediculous.
edit: if you can't find someone around, try speedy autoglass, or any autoglass shop, most of them will repair it, as long as it isn't cracked out too far (or at all), rather than replacing it.

Samething happened to me earlier this year. It was dead center of my windshield. At first it was only a really small chip but over about 6 months it grew into this 8in long hairline crack. Luckily I have glass coverage so called and made an appointment, whent to the shop, 45 minutes later I leave with a brand new windshield no charge.
How about this one...... driving home from the dealership the night i bought my car, same thing happened, rock kicked up and chipped my windshield! I was sooooooo pissed. Audi had it fixed for me for free though... they just had one of those glass people come and do it there at the dealershp for me.
